Born in the Sürmene district of Trabzon on May 1, 1982, Mehmet Muş finished his elementary and secondary education in Istanbul. Having obtained his bachelor’s degree in the Department of Business Administration at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the Eastern Mediterranean University, Mr. Muş went abroad to do his master’s degree. He got his postgraduate degree in the field of economy at Washington State University School of Economic Sciences. Having finished his doctoral degree at the Department of Economic History at Marmara University, Mr. Muş worked as budget planning expert in private sector. He carried out works and assumed duties at Istanbul Youth Branch of AK Party. He served as a member of the Board of Directors, head of Economic Affairs and chairman of the organization, respectively, at AK Party’s Istanbul Provincial Youth Branch. Mr. Muş was elected as AK Party Istanbul deputy for the 24th Parliamentary Term in 2011 and continued to serve as Istanbul deputy for the 25th, 26th and 27th Parliamentary Terms. He served as a member of the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Committee on Planning and Budget and EU Harmonization Committee at the GNAT. Mr. Muş also served as a member of the Turkish delegation at NATO Parliamentary Assembly and deputy head of the Public Relations Department at AK Party headquarters. Elected as a member of the CEC in 2014, Mr. Muş served as Deputy Chairman of AK Party and the head of the Economic Affairs Department. He was re-elected as a member of the CDAC at AK Party’s 2nd Extraordinary Congress. He was elected as AK Party Group Deputy Chairman on May 27, 2016. He served in this post until March 31, 2021. He was appointed as the Minister of Trade on April 21, 2021. Mr. Muş, who is fluent in English, is married with a child.
