THE SARAJEVO BUSINESS FORUM INNITIATIVE

Sarajevo – Regional Educational Centre

On July 5 2010, Sarajevo Business Forum presented the initiative on the establishment of Sarajevo as the regional centre of high education. The basic concept behind the idea of positioning Sarajevo as the regional centre of university education which would attract a significant number of international students from the region and further afield and as a result contribute towards the advancement of science and technology, establishment of research institutes, policy think tanks, scientific research laboratories, publication of research findings, presenting a more favorable image of Sarajevo and BiH and, in the final analysis, spearheading the development of the overall economy, infrastructure, hospitality industry and cultural exchanges.

Initially, only those universities using English language as the medium of instruction would be involved in the project, such as American University in BiH, International Burch university (IBU), University of Sarajevo (UNSA), International University of Sarajevo (IUS) and the Sarajevo School of science and technology (SSST).

During the presentation held at the headquarters of Bosna Bank International (BBI) in Sarajevo, it was proposed that as an initial step of the initiative, Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) be signed by the participating universities. Ambassador Clifford Bond and Denis Prcic (AUBiH), dr. Faruk Caklovica (UNSA), dr. Teoman Duman (IBU), dr. Hilmi Ünlü (IUS), Sanela Pripo (SSST), dr. Medžid Muhasilović (GTZ Collaboration Program Switzerland), Adnan Kapo (Presidency of BiH) and Amer Bukvić (Sarajevo Business Forum) attended the meeting at BBI.
