Republic of Island Invited to Participate in Sarajevo Business Forum 2012

H.E. Elma Kovacevic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the Republic of Island stationed in Norway met with Katrin Júlíusdóttir, Minister for industry, Energy and Tourism of the Republic of Island. Their meeting took place on 16. June, 2011., during the Seminar titled ‘Update on Energy Potential of Island’, that was organized by the National Energy Authority of the Republic of Island.

BH Ambassador Kovacevic briefed the Minister about energy potentials of Bosnia and Herzegovina, emphasizing the need for cooperation between the two countries in several important economic areas, especially in the renewable energy sector. Ambassador of B&H informed the Minister about the Sarajevo Business Forum, the largest international investment conference which was organized on 6-8 April, 2011 by Bosna Bank International and the Islamic Development Bank and their other international partner organizations. Ambassador Kovacevic used the opportunity and invited the Minister Katrin Júlíusdóttir to participate at the Sarajevo Business Forum 2012.

Projects in the field of energy and tourism represented important sectors of the economy presented at the past two Forums, ambassador went on to say during her Island talks. SBF featured the largest number of projects from tourism (46 projects worth US $528 million) she added, while projects from the energy sector attracted attention of the most serious investors.

Minister Júlíusdóttir thanked the ambassador Kovacevic for the invitation to visit B&H saying that her visit to Bosnia would be a great opportunity to witness the Bosnian energy potentials first hand and to explore other opportunities for cooperation between the two countries.
